I am so sorry that I did not make it to the funeral home. I thought the world of Ernie. He was a very respectable man. I have known him for most of my life, but it was a pleasure to really get to know him after he and Joyce got married. I will always remember playing guitar with him at the house. The last song I played with him was "Come Spring." His voice was weak, but he sang it all and played along with me. When I heard of his passing, I couldn't get the song out of my head so I got up, got my guitar, and sang it out loud with tears streaming down my face. I doubt he could have heard it over all the angels singing and the rejoicing time he had with his family, Stanley, Elaine, Evan, Lauren, and Mamaw and Papaw, but I sang it for him.
