Please share a memory of Rev. Jeffrey to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Rev. Jeffrey Ogg It is with personal sadness but great eternal joy that the family of Rev. Jeff Ogg, 64, announce his homegoing on Sept. 25, 2023, after a pair of courageous battles with cancer over the last four years. Along with countless individuals impacted by his 46 years of ministry, Pastor Jeff will be missed by his loving wife, April Dowell Ogg, of Hixson, TN; his daughter, Jeanna (Ronnie) Baron, of Baton Rouge, LA; his son, Justin (Amber) Ogg of Signal Mountain, TN; his grandchildren, Tre’, Reid, & Brooks Baron, Jace & Holly Ogg; his mother, Janett Ogg, of Chattanooga, TN; his brothers, Jerald (Jane) Ogg Jr. of Martin, TN, and Jim (Tawana) Ogg of Montgomery, TX; his sister, Judy (Ed) Morren of Seymour, TN; his aunt, Jenell Mueller of Crossville, TN; and 10 very special nieces and nephews. Jeff was preceded in death by his first wife, Barbie Bonetsky Ogg, and his father, Rev. Jerald Ogg Sr. Jeff was born on March 28, 1959, in Ft. Scott, KS. A graduate of Seymour (TN) High School and Central Bible College in Springfield, MO, Jeff served as youth, music and/or singles minister at churches in Kingsport, TN, Springfield, MO, Tarpon Springs, FL, Meridian, MS and Baton Rouge, LA, before assuming an administrative role for Jimmy Swaggart Ministries in Baton Rouge, LA. He then embarked on a 31-year career as senior pastor at four churches: Bethel Temple Assembly of God in Baton Rouge, LA, Bethel Temple A/G in Hixson, TN, Kailua A/G in Kailua, HI and Whitefield A/G in Ripley, TN. He was delighted in 2019 to accept the position of chief operating officer for Youth for America, a Chattanooga-based ministry, and he served in that position—investing in the lives of scores of UT Chattanooga students—until his death. Along with his love of Christ and heart for people, Jeff was probably best known for his musical giftings. A talented and anointed vocalist, Jeff was also an award-winning pianist who was already serving as church pianist at the age of eight. He was a huge fan of the Tennessee Vols and St. Louis Cardinals, but his deepest devotion was to the Lord Jesus Christ and his family. His cancer journeys have been followed by thousands whose lives he touched across his ministry, none of whom would be surprised to know that his theme song for both journeys was “The Goodness of God.” A celebration of Jeff’s life will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 30, 2023, at Grace Pointe Assembly of God in Hixson, TN. Visitation will be on Saturday, September 30, from 11:00 am until the time of the service. Graveside services and interment will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, October 2, 2023 in Hamilton Memorial Gardens. Please share your memories, stories, and photos at  www.legacyfuneralhome.com. Arrangements are by Legacy Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 8911 Dallas Hollow Road, Soddy-Daisy, TN (423) 843-2525.
