Dearest Ogg Family,
It is with a heavy heart that I offer my condolences in the passing of our beloved Pastor Jeff. I have to admit I sat up in front at Bethel Temple in Hixson to hear the most life-challenging messages AND to watch his fingers glide over the keys accompanied by his amazing voice. So anointed!
I have been on the road since September 25th and am still visiting family in New England. I was really heartbroken to have missed Pastor Jeff's homecoming.
My thoughts and prayers are with all of you.
May God keep you in His perfect peace.
In Christ's love,
Cindy Swope

Upon moving to Chattanooga, we began our search for a church home. We visited all assemblies of God churches in the Chattanooga area. When we visited Bethel Temple Assembly of God, Pastor Ogg was calling for a twenty-one-day Daniel fast. We knew then that Pastor Ogg was a pastor interested in the spiritual life of the church and we knew then that we have found our church home. He water baptized our son Waldo Jr. and dedicated our daughter Dominique.
We learned many biblical truths from Pastor Ogg in the many years he was the Pastor at Bethel Temple, one of them being that “God is first, then your family and then the ministry”. 1 Tim 3:5. He never took lightly what he ministered on Sunday. He was truly a “Barnabas (son of encouragement) and a Berean (student of the word)”.
Pastor Ogg’s departure leaves a big void in the lives of everyone he ever came in contact with. His God given preaching, teaching, singing and piano playing abilities will resonate even after his passing.
We are very blessed to have met him and gotten to know him.
We count it as an honor, a privilege and a blessing to have served with him the members and adherents of Bethel Temple Assembly of God.
Justin, Jeanna and Sister April: We love you and your families very much.
God bless you always Pastor Ogg!

My husband and I served as youth pastors during part of Jeff’s youth at Dyersburg, TN. His commitment, ministry and service to the Lord was outstanding especially at his age. As far as memorable, his musical gift from God is what I think of first but his continual, joyful, sweet spirit is what I hold most dear.

I was sharing earlier today and lost it before I was finished and couldn't see in the tributes that it went through. Don is in Heaven now, but we started attending Bethel Temple on the first Sunday in 1992 after moving here the previous month and trying to find a church. We were never sorry about our choice and enjoyed all the years we attended while the Oggs were there. Pastor Ogg's ministry was second to none. Since my husband loved playing the piano, we both enjoyed Pastor Ogg's gift of playing the piano and singing. He added so much to our music ministry and was gifted in teaching the choir all our parts, so we could really bless the congregation with some wonderful harmony. We enjoyed his preaching so much that we borrowed old tapes to play at home so we could get many services that we missed as well. I'm looking forward to joining him in Heaven and singing together, again. My condolences to all the Ogg family, and I shall be praying daily for months as you will be mourning this loss for some time to come. Love and prayers, Vivian Clark, LA

Pastor Jeff was my friend. He was also the most encouraging person to me while I was studying to be a pastor. He always had time for me. His wealth of knowledge and experience was so easily shared with others. I once had a difficult part to share in a message. I told him that if I say "that" the people will hate me. Pastor Jeff smiled and said, "Isn't there always a chance of that when you preach the Bible". He was such a blessing to my family. We have many memories with him to cherish. I look forward to seeing him in heaven.

Jeff followed in the footsteps of his earthly and heavenly father. He made all feel welcome and invited us to join him in that journey. The Ogg legacy is rich, deep, and spread far. They healed the wounded, brought comfort to the afflicted, and hope in time of need.
While his time on earth may have ended, I can picture the eternal celebration with those who have gone before, gathered around a piano somewhere singing from the hymnal. Ahoha Ke Akua my friend!

I’ve known Jeff since we were kids at youth camp — he was unchanging. Always consistent, faithful and focused. As a missionary I stayed in his family’s home & enjoyed hospitality & talks over meals. I had such deep appreciation for him. His presence on this earth will be missed — we will continue to pray for April and the rest of his family.

Pastor Jeff Ogg was a man after God’s own heart, a man whose passion was and is God! His whole life here on Earth was a testimony to the “Goodness of God.” We are so grateful to Jesus in allowing our family to have known Pastor Jeff on this earthly plain. We’re excited and so looking forward to seeing him once again as we will worship our Wonderful Savior through eternity together soon and very soon!
