Obituary of Thomas Francis Mullady III M.D.

Dr. Thomas Francis Mullady III, 90, of Chattanooga, was received by his Lord and Savior on Monday, November 30, 2020. He was born on October 2, 1930, in Pearl River, NY, to the late Thomas F. Mullady, Jr. and Anna Christine Kast. Dr. Mullady graduated from Johns Hopkins University, and Johns Hopkins Medical School in 1955. He completed his residency at Brooke Army Medical Center on Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio, TX. Following a fellowship at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, he and his family came to Chattanooga in 1962. He began his medical practice there as well as raising his family. He retired in 2017 after practicing for 55 years in Internal Medicine with Parkridge Medical Group – Diagnostic Center. Dr. Mullady was an avid golfer late in life, and enjoyed a yearly golf outing in Waynesville, North Carolina with close golfing buddies. He was an accomplished and classically trained pianist, with a love of music that was infectious. He also attended First Presbyterian Church. He endured a long illness with much grace and dignity. Many thanks to all the caregivers who lovingly cared for him. He was preceded in death by his wife Nancy Jane Doudna Mullady this past Feb. 26; a grandson, Benjamin Thomas Smith; and brothers, Michael Robert Mullady and Edward Richard Mullady. He is survived by five children Thomas F. (Cynthia) Mullady IV, Lynn (Lloyd) Tatum, Lisa (Dan) Smith, Peter (Mary Ann) Mullady, Stephen Mullady, 11 grandchildren; Drew (Melissa) Mullady, Lauren (Cliff) Priestley, Christine (Kevin) Phelan, Jennifer Mullady, Roger, Frank (Emma), George and Lindy Tatum, Daniel and Nancy Claire Smith, Lance Cpl. Peter Mullady and five great-grandchildren Thomas and Brooks Mullady, Noah Priestley, Matthew and Sarah Phelan; brother, James (Marilyn) Mullady; and sister, Anne Christine Ryan. Graveside services will be held at 12 noon on Saturday, December 5, 2020 in Forest Hills Cemetery with Dr. Tim Kirk officiating. Military honors will be provided by the United States Army. Contributions may be made to the Chattanooga Ronald McDonald House or the charity of your choice. We respectfully request that "social distancing" and all CDC measures be adhered to at cemetery.
