Obituary of Dr. Clankston O. Freeman

On Wednesday, Aug. 7, Clankston O. Freeman, ThD, husband and father of two, passed away at the age of 79.

Dr. Freeman was born on Feb. 2, 1940, in Graysville, Tenn., to Darius Freeman and Georgia Riddle Freeman, who preceded him in death.

He married Patricia McNelley and had two children, Brian Freeman and Stephanie Freeman Brown. He has three surviving grandchildren, Patrick Ezell, Gillian Freeman, and Emily Morgan.

A long-time resident of Dayton, Tenn., Dr. Freeman was a retired minister and was previously the pastor of Greenpond Baptist Church in Soddy Daisy, Tenn.

A graduate of Rhea County High School, he later earned his doctorate in theology from Anderson Bible College. Dr. Freeman was devoted to his family and his ministry, as well as serving his congregation and community.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, August 11, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Legacy Funeral Home with the Rev. Justin Cox, Brian Freeman and Rev. Jimmy Young officiating.  Interment will follow in Pleasant View Cemetery, Graysville, TN.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, August 10, 2019 from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. in the funeral home.
