Obituary of Brooke Erin Mendenhall
#77 Strong! Rest in Power.
Brooke Erin Mendenhall nee Miller, 41, of Signal Mountain, TN, succumbed to triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) on Tuesday, June 25, at Hospice of Chattanooga Care Center. Metastasized TNBC is the most aggressive subtype of breast cancer and Brooke received treatment since being diagnosed in December 2016.
Brooke enjoyed life with a passion. She loved her children, friends, roller derby, music, Wonder Woman, gnomes, unicorns, and rainbows. She wore the insignia of Wonder Woman as a talisman.
As "Malice" she was a skater and coach for the Chattanooga Roller Girls (CRG) taking MVP Jammer in her first bout. Serious about improving CRG, she attended seminars and developed additional training exercises. She was a co-founder of the Ruby Regulators, Chattanooga's first youth roller derby league. CRG retired her number 77 as a tribute to her dedication to the team and sport.
A life-long runner, she completed her first half marathon in the 2011 Disney's Princess ½ Marathon. Brooke and her children often vacationed at Universal Studios especially enjoying ET and Harry Potter world. In 2018, she and daughter Rei hiked 4 days to Machu Picchu. She regretted being unable to take son Kainyn on their special trip.
A 1996 graduate of Hoover HS, North Canton OH, Brooke attended Ringling College of Art and Design, Sarasota FL, and received a master in speech pathology from Kent State University. She was the Director of Rehabilitation Services at Alexian Village.
Brooke is survived by daughter Rei and son Kainyn of Signal Mountain TN; father Joe Miller (Pam), Uniontown, OH; mother Lois Tolley (Robert Fockler III), North Canton, OH; brother Micah Miller, Gilbert, AZ; sister Fawn Miller, Corona, CA.
