Obituary of Luis Lorenzo - Rivero

Luis Lorenzo-Rivero, 83, of Hixson, passed away suddenly on August 2, 2018, at Memorial Hospital. Luis had a long and distinguished career as a professor of Spanish, Portuguese and Comparative Literature. He wrote more than 10 books and hundreds of articles on literary criticism.

After retiring while living in Scottsdale, AZ, he volunteered at Mustang Library, Appaloosa Library and Desert Botanical Garden. Since moving to Hixson, he volunteered at the Chattanooga Food Bank, Tennessee Aquarium and the courtyard garden at Memorial Hospital. He wanted to give back to the community his time and energy.

He is survived by his loving wife, Shannon, of 55 years and his loving daughter, Shauna.

A funeral mass will be at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Soddy Daisy at 4 p.m. on Friday, August 10. A celebration of his life will be held at his home following where you can share memories and stories.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the American Cancer Society https://donate3.cancer.org or the Greater Chattanooga Colon Cancer Foundation gcccf.org may be made in his name.

We are forever grateful for the professional and compassionate care given to Luis at Memorial Hospital.
