Obituary of Christy Lee Uren

Christy Lee Uren, 41 of Hixson, died at an area hospital and began her celebration with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, March 13, 2012. She had courageously fought an illness for several years. Christy was a member of Burks United Methodist Church, and her faith in God and Jesus Christ touched many lives. She attended Girls Preparatory School and graduated with honors from Hixson High School. She attended Carson-Newman College, and she earned two Associate Degrees elsewhere, the last one magna cum laude. Following college, she had worked as a real estate agent, in various office clerical positions, and she had been an assistant manager of women's specialty clothing stores. Christy was loved and cherished by all who knew her. She was a loving and caring person who made friends easily wherever she went. She was at her best when she was helping someone in need. Christy was known for her inspirational prayers in her church Sunday school class and elsewhere. Her legacy will live on through all the people she touched with her kind words and love. Her grand parents, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur B. Johnson and Mr. and Mrs. Eugene E. Uren, preceded her in death. She is survived by her parents, David E. and Linda J. Uren; by aunts Martha Johnson, Patsy Doyle, and Myra Uren; by special cousin, Phyllis Wilson; and by numerous other cousins and relatives. Christy will be sorely missed. She was a spiritual blessing to her parents who were her primary caregivers in her latter years. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday in the funeral home with the Rev. Nathan Malone and the Rev. Jim Evans officiating. Interment will follow in Hamilton Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
