Fear Factor One of the funniest things Phil ever tried to talk me into was going on Fear Factor. He was all excited trying to sell me the idea. He said we could work out really hard and get in great shape and go win that money. Of course I am convinced he wanted me to eat the bugs, lol. He was really persistent about it until I finally told him there was No way I was going to go on there and have to eat something gross. He looked so disappointed, lol, then I had to laugh at him and he just shook his head.

To all the West Family, Of all people, Phil West. This is so hard to believe. Phil came into our lives when Jonathan and I needed a strong male figure. He was loved by our whole family. Phil had such a good heart and I know his soul is with the Lord. He was such a colorful figure......his laugh, his personality, his love of life, his love of his family, and, of course, the VOLS. Another piece of the CLASS OF '67 is gone. We all mourn for him. I want to say "Thank You Phil" for being part of our lives. If a person didn't know this man, it was there loss. Phil we will always miss you but we'll see you someday. Look for Jim up there. He would love to meet you, I know. To all the West Family, my heart breaks. When things settle down and some time passes, the grieving will stop but the mourning for Phil never will. All of you will be in my prayers. Here's to you Philip West from a Georgia fan........GO VOLS....(I BET THE LORD GAVE PHIL A VOL ORANGE ROBE, DON'T YOU !!!) Love, Hugs, And Prayers, Angie Abernathy Ridgeland H.S. 706-861-0244 CLASS OF '67

I enjoyed knowing Phil because he seemed to be a genuinely and sincerely kind, caring, and hardworking family man. He spoke often of his family so that it was obvious that you all have a wonderful, close-knit, and loving family. He will be missed here at Retubeco. He was known as a hard-worker among his peers here. Please allow me to extend my deepest sympathy for your loss.

R.I.P Phil..., I worked under Phil for year's at Komatsu', And we used to hold prayer meeting's in the shop every day before shift's begin.., That was what really drew me close to him, And made me realize where he stood even as a superior.., I remember when Phil's dad passed, And i was sitting in the breakroom with ful view of the parking lot, And i seen Phil walking to the door with his head hung, And tear's in his eye's, And i got up and walked out to him and asked, Is everything o.k.? He looked at me and said i have lost my rock..., But he refused to give up, Or sit in self pitty, And he was there even through this to lead. He was one of the kindest people i have ever had a pleasure to know. Even in times of trial, He alway's showed compasion, And humility...And that's how i will alway's remember Phil... I had heard he had some trouble on sunday of last week from my mother who went to school with him, And i went to work the next day and called every hospital until i finally found out he was at Erlanger... And they told me he was in ccu... Which i knew at the time was family only, And in our busy live's, I failed to call back and got the call today from an ex coworker, who also loved Phil dearly, That he had passed. My heart dropped! I know I can take comfort in knowing that Phil is with his dad that he loved so dearly, And that he was truly an angel who touched everyone he came across in an inspiring way. I am mourning your loss and praying for you as we speek, And yet another awesome angel gone home!
