A Tap on the window - my friends are waiting When I left my grandson at the Milliron's I walked him to the door and he often ran to the window to wave and let them know he was there - couldn't wait to go in. Pop always had a lap for those who needed just a few minutes to get going so early. The kids loved both of them so much and were very happy. And the parents or grandparents in our case left them with absolute assurance that they were well-treated, loved, taught to be courteous and a lot of other important life lessons. Our East Brainerd community has been deeply touched by the loss of two wonderful people. Our neighbors, our friends - they were respected and loved by everyone who knew them. We are grieving their loss along with their families who have suffered a terrible tragedy. We offer our condolences and our prayers for their children and grandchildren.

Tie my shoe My years of preschool were a special time in my life. I started going to Mrs. Millirons when I was 3yrs in 1980. I have so many memories of her that I have a hard time choosing just one but there is one that stands out more than most. She taught me to tie my shoes! I had a very difficult time learning this but she was ever so patient with me. When I had finally gotten it down pat she rewarded me with time on the big braided rug to watch Mr. Rogers. I loved that rug! My years with her may be long past but I have thought of her fondly. She was a kind and caring peron. Thank You Mrs. Millirons for being so wonderful!

The Past Chalk and Tim, our families go way back.Your mom used to keep me starting when I was 3 years old. I remember all of us playing with your dog Gar. Those were very happy times for me and through the years, have thought about them quite often. One day, your mom and dad came in Kingwood Pharmacy where I worked. Standing and talking to them brought back a lot of childhood memories with all of us. I remember my mom picking me up in the afternoon: your mom and mine sitting and talking. I know as we get older, our lives change but there have been times that I wish we had all stayed in touch. I will always remember my wonderful childhood with your family.

Marjorie was such a lady and such a sweet one! We will miss seeing her and Charlie at the mall on Saturdays walking. We have such memories of our children and theirs growing up together with band trips, and SIA, and Boyd-Buchanan fun! We love you, Tim and Charles and all your families. They raised you well!

As band parents at Boyd Buchanan School they were there along with my family and other band families in forming the first marching band. We had many good times and enjoyed the success of our little band. My son, Skip (or Bill as he was called at BBS) and Kathy were friends with both Charles and Tim. We feel so sad for them.

To the family of Mr. and Mrs. Millirons - please know that you are in my family's thoughts and prayers. My daughter, Ashlee, stayed with them for a couple of years and loved every minute she was there. We also live close to them, and always loved seeing them out in the yard working together. Just glad they were a part of our lives and made the world a better place by being here and loving and caring for so many children over the years.

Mr. & Mrs. Charlie, as we called them, had become our dear friends. We met at the mall where we would walk with them several days a week. Mr. Charlie sat at the end of the same table each day working his puzzle while Terry sat at the other end working his puzzle. Ms. Charlie and I shopped. They teased us about our "bargain" shopping. We shared our stories of families, jobs before retirement, remodeling projects, vehicles, yard projects and things happening in our everyday lives. Most of all there was a lot of discussing Alabama football. Ms. Charlie knew more about it than the commentators. They were so enjoyable to talk to. Ms. Charlie shared with me what a kind and patient man Mr. Charlie was, especially teaching the boys how to drive. Her words of wisdom, comfort, and encouragement helped us through some difficult times last year when we had family sickness. We didn't know about the accident but we had been missing them and thought they might be out of town because we had been gone for a few days. We knew they had season tickets to Alabama games and thought maybe they were on vacation. We had begun to feel something was not right and was terribly upset to read of Mr. Charlie's obituary and then to learn the details. We hurt for you children and grand children and we're praying for you. They loved their family very much. I really cannot put into words how very sorry we are that this tragic accident happened. We're grieving with you. The mall will never be the same. We loved them too.

What a dear and lovely lady was Marjorie. Stewart, my son was in the care of Mrs. Millirons during his preschool years in 1990 & 1991. She was so very kind and attentive and what a great educational start he got with her, she certainly wasn't just a baby sitter, but was a special teacher. I still remember songs he would come home singing that she had taught them for every holiday season such as cute Halloween songs, the reciting of classic nursery rhymes, the alphabet and numbers as well as manners and organization (all red lunch boxes on this shelf, all green ones on this shelf etc.) I never worried one minute while Stewart was in her care, I knew he was not only being taught things, but he was well cared for and loved as well. Now, he is 24, and in the Air Force and I can certainly attribute some of his good character traits to Mrs. Millirons. I know Mr. & Mrs. Millirons will be missed by those close to them and though we lost touch over the years, our family never has forgotten her and appreciate her immensely. I believe there will be a special place in heaven for them. Our thoughts are with you.

I had the privilege of growing up with the Millirons family as friends. My three children were blessed to be able to stay at the childcare center that Marjorie ran so beautifully. She was such a caring, compassionate, and passionate educator as well as child care provider. I was stunned and so saddened to hear of the loss of this wonderful mother and friend. My heartfelt thoughts and prayers go out to her sons and their families at this time of terrible loss. I know how close Charlie and Marjorie were and how difficult it would have been for either of them to be without the other. I look forward to the day that we can all reunite with our heavenly father.

Chalk and Tim, I was so saddened to learn of your great loss. My daughter Courtney was blessed to be a student at your Mom's center from 1979-1982 when we moved from Chattanooga. We lived across the street in Cambridge Estates, and I observed the love, attention, and patience your Mother and her staff demonstrated towards the children in their care. I knew this was who I wanted to care for my child. Courtney's name for your Mother was Mimirons! The world could definitely use more teachers with the morals and character that your Mother possessed. I remember your Dad helping out in the mornings, and I think I remember you boys helping out when necessary. When Courtney was with your Mother, I never had any worries. May God bless you both during this tremendous loss. God Bless You! Anne Phipps.
