True Friend I met Mr. Rick only a year ago but it seems like he has always been a part of my life. When I first met Mr. Rick he was sporting his usual fashion which included his Tennessee hat and his favorite Falling Water mug. He made sure I had everything I needed and insisted that he carry ANY heavy boxes that I had because as he said "You don't need to be carrying that heavy stuff". He lugged stuff out of my office and even spackled holes in the wall so that I could paint. He found out that I like red licorice, so on occasion, I would come into my office and on my desk would be a bag of red licorice. He was so thoughtful and kind, would do ANYTHING for you and would give you the shirt off his back. He loved the faculty and children with all his heart and never asked for anything in return. I loved Mr. Rick and am blessed to call him friend.

Memories of a friend Mr. Rick was one of the first people that I met when I came to work at Falling Water Elementary several years ago. I was unloading boxes from my car to carry into my classroom. When he saw me doing this, he fussed at me for not finding him to get him to do it! But that's the kind of man that he was. He was always doing things to help others. I cannot count the times that he would do little things for all of us at the school. He would bring us fresh vegetables from his garden, cook us fried okra, bring us a drink, or just check in with us to see if we needed anything. And his love for the children was obvious, just as theirs was for him. I really don't know how we are going to go on without him. I know that we will all miss him and think of him every day. He has definitely left his mark on Falling Water Elementary. I feel blessed to have known him and called him my friend.

Falling Water Words can never express all that Mr. Rick did for the teachers and students at Falling Water Elementary. He is leaving a legacy of an example of kindness and love that we should show to everyone we encounter in our lives. We are overcome with sadness, there is a void in our lives now that cannot be filled. We will miss our Mr. Rick.

fishing I can remember the time that uncle Ricky went fishing and had to sleep in the boat out in the middle of the lake because the fog came in and he could not see where the shore was

Words cannot begin to express my sorrow. What moves through us is a silence, a quiet sadness, a longing for one more day, one more word, one more touch. We do not understand why Ricky was taken from this earth so soon, or why he was taken before we could say goodbye. Some times I feel like God has something more important for us there than here. Hold on to the memories of Ricky and draw strength from them. May the love of those around you help you through the days ahead. I am thinking of you through this difficult time.

We, too, are a FWE family and want to send our condolences as well. My daughter just finished 4th grade and thought highly of Mr Rick. I actually remember him from when I was in elementary school at FWE .. he started working there when I was probably in about the 3rd or 4th grade :) I know that everyone at the school is going to miss him terribly! We will be keeping the family in our thoughts and prayers. God bless!

I have personally known Rick for 24 years and consider him a dear friend. It has been great to work with him at Falling Water. He was so much more than our custodian. He was a doctor, a cook, a helper, a story teller, a coach, an eye-roller, a hard worker, an exterminator, a mover, a friend... the list goes on and on. He was so dependable and would give anything to help anyone of us- adult or student. We have had many great times throughout the years at Falling Water and he will be GREATLY missed by all!!!

If all your pain could be eased or erased with condolence wishes, I would say them all day long. Our thoughts and prayers are with all of you, and we are so sorry it was Ricky's time to go. Maybe he is sitting beside the river Jordan with Jesus, Grandpa And Grandma, and Daddy and the rest of his family that went before him. What a loving, peaceful place to be.

I teach 3rd grade at Falling Water Elementary and have known Mr. Rick for only 3 years. It was not nearly long enough. He was not just a custodian, but also a friend. He took SUCH good care of us all and always lent a helping hand without complaint. I'm not sure how any of us, or the school, will go on without him. Please know we share your grief and are praying for you all. I consider my coworkers my second family and we are left with a huge hole in that family and in our hearts.

Rick has always been part of my life at Falling Water. He came the year I was in 5th or 6th grade and I've been teaching there since 1991. Rick was always the man to call to get the job (any job) done. He would do anything to help us and was always glad to help anybody. He was always so good to have everything ready to go when school began. He really took care of us at school. I so enjoyed coming in each morning and knowing that Rick had already made a pot of coffee! Sometimes he would surprise us with a big salad made from his giant garden. My mother and I were just talking last week about how she hoped Rick would have enough okra to sell her some when school started back. Rick filled many shoes at school and we will miss him terribly. He was a fine person.

Falling Water Elementary will not be the same without Mr. Rick. Just 2-3 days before his passing, my daughter was telling me a story about her and her friends having a problem at school and Mr. Rick helped them take care of it. I said, "What would we do without Mr. Rick?" She said, "I know!" and went on to remind me about the time she lost one of my earrings and Mr. Rick helped her search for it and found it under a sink. He has always been appreciated. I hope he knew it. Prayers for comfort are being sent up for his family and friends.
