Please accept my deepest condolences, Mr. & Mrs. Griffin and family. Robert was a bright and gentle young man, well loved by the colleagues in NEC Labs. During his career here, he made good contributions to our research, and the highlight was the trip to Japan last September where he helped to present the latest advancements and achievements to top executives, fellowship researchers, and international VIPs. I was privileged to take the trip with him, and had some chance to chat with him. I remember he was very thankful for this trip, because he applied for US passport 10 years ago intending to go to Mexico for vacation, but never got to use it. This was his first overseas trip, and an fruitful one. We are all proud of him. Even though he is no longer with us on this earth, I believe that he is in a better place with our Creator face to face, without suffering or toil. He will be missed greatly, and we look forward to meeting him again in Heaven one day. -Philip Ji
