Obituary of Jewell Chancey Brown

Jewell Chancey Brown, 86, a life-long resident of Soddy-Daisy passed away Friday, June 4, 2010 in an area healthcare facility. Mrs. Brown was a 1942 graduate of Soddy-Daisy High School and retired from Soddy-Daisy Police Department after 27 years of service. She was the first dispatcher for Soddy-Daisy after they formed their Police Department. Mrs. Brown was a founding member of Soddy Community Chapel Assembly of God where she served as the choir director for many years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth P. Brown; parents, Rev. Willie Chancey and Rose Smith Chancey and sisters, Ruby and Eleanor Chancey. Survivors include her sons, Kenneth D. Brown and Gary E. Brown, both of Soddy-Daisy; beloved cousin, Charlotte Lape, of Soddy-Daisy; grandchildren, Justin Brown, Jason Brown, Kimberly (Jimmy) Rose, Stephanie (Darren) Laymon, Eric Brown, Julie Brotton and Beth Cramer and seven great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, June 6, 2010 in the Legacy Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Edward Stotts officiating. Interment will follow in Chancey Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:00-9:00 PM on Saturday at the funeral home. .
