To the Family: I offer my sincere sympathy in your time of grieving and loss. There are rarely 'appropriate' words to say, at this time, to help mend your heart. It seems that when someone sends a card, goes to the visitation, or the family home, or to the Service, words are not needed, their presence says it all. You are all in my thoughts, through these days, and weeks ahead. Losing a loved one is never easy, we are never prepared, and it affects each family member in a distinct way. A special hug to Kathy, in knowing her, makes me a richer person. I lost one sibling, my brother when he was 51, it forever changed me, and made me appreciate many things I had taken for granted. We never know what God has planned for us, we can just trust in His wisdom to realize, there is a time for us all, under the sun, 'A time to be born, a time to die...' Take comfort in the knowledge he is with so many loved ones who passed before him, and they will be there waiting, when you all, 'Meet again'. Lorene, I am so sorry about the loss of your son. I know that you sacrificed for yourself to let him have what was good for him. I remember you having the heat up so high in your house and when I questioned you, you said " well, David gets cold, and I will suffer so he will be warm" How unselfishly you gave of yourself time and time again. Even Christmas you didn't give your family presents so you could pay for his medicine that he needed. You went nights upon nights without sleep so you could be there if he cried out in the night. 15 years you cared for him....15 years he knew he was loved, cause you showed him time and time again despite his weaknesses. You are why David lived this long, and it is now I honor you. We all know you cared for David and people may take credit for something they never did , but we all know the truth....you are why David lived to be 54. On his last day he cried out for you, no one else. So know you did good by him...you are a reminder of a mothers love.

I work with Kathy at Erlanger. She is one of my very best friends and I love her dearly. I also have taken care of David in the Emergency Room, and to have know him is a blessing in my life. Mom, I know that losing a child is the most difficult thing you can do, and losing three is unbearable for me to think about. I know that your faith and strength will get you through this too. Kathy has that faith and strength that you possess, so I know that she will be fine as well. If you guys need anything (even if it just a shoulder to cry on), I am here, just call!! Love, Kristy
