Obituary of Vincent Joseph Grabert

Vincent Joseph Grabert, 91, of Hixson passed away on Saturday, November 1, 2014 at his home. Mr. Grabert was born on April 23, 1923 in Bristol, Rhode Island to the late Herman and Mary Roche Grabert. He graduated from Colt Memorial High School class of 1941, where he was captain of the state champion basketball team . He married Lucy Del Piano on July 6, 1946 after serving in the United States Navy during WWII, where he was honorably discharged as a Coxswain (Petty Officer Third Class) . He retired as a regional sales manager from Rohm and Haas Corporation after thirty years of service and was a communicant of St. Jude Catholic Church in Hixson. Survivors include his wife, Lucy Grabert of Hixson; son, Mark Grabert of Stratham, NH; daughters, Diedre T. Deane of Springfield, VT and Susan Leonard Hall of Hixson; brothers, Bernard M. Grabert and Herman Grabert, Jr. (Donna) ; grandchildren, Amy Beth Reichert of Winter Garden, FL, Jennifer Deane Kittle (Michael) of Frankfurt, Germany, George Deane (Jessica) of Waterbury, VT, Henry Deane (Kathaleen) of Allentown, PA, Christopher Leonard (Jessica) of Hixson and Cori Leonard Aslinger (George) of Soddy-Daisy and nine great-grandchildren. A funeral mass will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, November 7, 2014 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church with Monsignor Al Humbrecht officiating. Interment will follow in Hamilton County Memorial Park with military honors conducted by the United States Navy. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 4-8 PM with prayers at 8 PM at the funeral home.
