Obituary of Winston Alfred Lindley

Winston Alfred Lindley, 94, most recently of Lookout Valley, entered his heavenly rest on Wednesday, October 29, 2014 at a local healthcare facility. Born in St. Louis, where he lived most of his life, on December 10, 1919 to Alfred and Lessie Lindley, he is survived by his devoted wife of 68 years, Merlyn. Other survivors include son Gary (Patricia) and daughter Joan (David), grandchildren Nathan Lindley, Matthew Lindley, Daniel Lindley, Michael Lindley, Stephen Lindley, Rachel Jimenez, Melissa Long, and Aaron Stanton; 14 great-grandchildren, and siblings Mildred Heckel, Kenneth Lindley, and Merrill Lindley. He was a World War II veteran, serving three years, three months, and three days in the Army Air Corps in North Africa and Italy; his life was marked by devotion, faithfulness, and integrity, a heritage which he bequeathed to his descendants. Special thanks to the nurses and staff of St. Barnabas who provided such attentive care for the nine months that he was a resident there. The funeral service will be held at Mountain View Presbyterian Church, 3111 Kelly's Ferry Road Sunday afternoon at 3:00 with Rev. Walter Gienapp officiating. Interment will be at the National Cemetery on Friday at 10:30. Memorial contributions may be made to Covenant College, Lookout Mountain, GA 30750.
