Raymond L. Metter (Ray), former Oak Ridger, died on Friday, June 9 in Hixson, Tennessee. He was born in Dayton, Ohio, attended school there and worked at Wright-Patterson AFB before moving with his family to Oak Ridge, where he resided from 1949 to 1999. The family were members of St. Mary's Catholic Church. Ray was active in the Oak Ridge Playhouse, as were his daughters, Tacie and Laurie. While employed with the DOE, he traveled extensively with the Foreign Exhibit Program in "Atoms in Action" and "Atoms for Peace." He was an accomplished artist and had several showings in Oak Ridge. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy, of Hixson and daughters, Tacie Overbeck and Laurie Metter, both of Hixson; two grandchildren, Brian (Dee Anne) Overbeck of Mt. Juliet and Shawn (Mike) Winters of Hixson; and four great-grandchildren, Christopher and Amanda Winters of Hixson and Kee-Lee and Ah-Gusta Overbeck of Mt. Juliet.
