Alice was one of my mother's dearest friends. And, I feel so blessed to have known her. Mother had fun stories about Alice and admired her greatly. I remember Alice from when I was very young. And, I remember spending some time down at her shop looking through book after book of fabric samples and wallpaper patterns while she and Mother would make their plans. Alice and Mom played a new two-piano piece together every year for many years with the McDowell Music Club. I am pretty sure they "rocked" it. After I pledged Pi Phi,I learned Alice was on the House Corporation. Thus, the lovely decor and frankly the prettiest furnished house on "sorority row" which I and my sorority sisters enjoyed made complete sense to me then. Alice was a force in fashion whether in clothing or furnishings. But, she was a force in many other areas of life as well. After mom passed, I thought of Alice often. She was so kind to travel to the funeral and I was so grateful to get to share some stories with her. I was truly comforted by her presence. I'm sorry for your loss and pray she will rest in peace. I am consoled to think a couple of keyboards are just getting warmed up right about now for a very Big Concert.
