Bonnie Johnson Graves of Chattanooga and Atlanta passed away on November 28, 2017. Bonnie was born in Chattanooga on December 13, 1926 to Dr. and Mrs. Paul Johnson, Sr. She attended The Bright School and Girls’ Preparatory School before graduating from Vanderbilt University. Bonnie was blessed with a 41 year marriage to the late Dr. Joseph W. Graves of Chattanooga. She was very active in the Chattanooga community and pursued her passions with joy and enthusiasm. As a couple, Bonnie and Dr. Graves established many lifelong friendships. Their vacation home in Santa Rosa Beach, FL was the site of cherished family gatherings. Bonnie lived at Lenbrook in Atlanta for the past five years and made many new friends through her Lenbrook activities and her service to Peachtree Presbyterian Church. She is survived by her four daughters, Bonnie Graves Englund of Palm Springs, CA, Ginnie Graves Martin of Bluffton, SC, Mary Graves (Clay) Gibson of Atlanta, GA and Josephine Graves (Clint) Smith of Marietta, GA; her grandchildren, Ashley (Tarken) Best, Sev (Libbie) Martin, Knox (Caroline) Martin, Bonnie (Ryan) Sugrue, Joe (Jessica) Gibson, Clay Gibson, Graves Englund, Jennifer Smith and Matt Smith; and her great grandchildren, Ella Gammon, Owsley Gammon, Piper Best and Wils Sugrue. She is pre-deceased by her parents, husband, daughter Ruthie and grandson Max. Bonnie lived a life full of grace, strength and beauty. Her love for family was endless. She was a blessing in the world and especially to all who knew her. The family will receive friends from 1-2 pm Sunday, December 3rd at Wann Funeral Home, Chattanooga followed by a graveside service at Forest Hills Cemetery with Joe Novenson, Senior Pastor of Lookout Mountain Presbyterian Church, officiating. A memorial service will also be held on Saturday, December 9th at 11 am at Lenbrook in Atlanta. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association.
