Your family have my condolences. Death is never easy, and it brings great sorrow. "Death is something that we cannot sever, but love and memories last forever". In God's word the Bible, he tells us about the wonderful promise of the resurrection. We have the hope of seeing our love ones again. John 5:28, 29.

I last saw Blair at our Normal Park reunion when I was in town for my GPS 50th reunion. We shared wonderful memories of our time in North Chattanooga, GPS and Baylor and I met his lovely wife Lucy. I took dancing from his mother so the family holds a special place. Blessing to you Lucy and the extended family. He will be deeply missed. Diane Moore Nashville, TN

The runs to Lexington and Atlanta will never be the same without Blair, he is what made those trips a blast. And spending the day at the RC flying meets was so enjoyable watching the skills of the flyers and listening to Blair telling his tall tales, what a guy. Champy's will never be the same, either, will miss you buddy. Phil Davis(Tex)

Blair was designated as an "Officer and Gentleman" by the U.S. Congress as he was commissioned in the Army. He expanded and refined his role as a gentleman for the rest of his life. He was the quintessential gentleman at all times. His "need for speed" was contagious to all who raced with him and against him, He was always the gentleman in trying circumstances and exemplified good sportsmanship at all times. Blair was a good role model to all who came into contact with him in sports or in life Cole Keane

I was privileged to know Blair through Outermonvolia and honored to have met him several times at luncheons and tail gates. I always enjoyed our discussions about history and about the Vols. My heartfelt sympathies and prayers go out to Lucy and the entire Patterson family during this time of loss. The world (and Outermonvolia) is a lesser place today.

I am very sorry for Lucy and the entire Patterson family. Blair was a great man, veteran, and my friend and I will miss him. I am thankful for all of our lunches together and the fun times we had before the Florida game. Outermonvolia will not be the same without VFL Blair.
