I loved my granddaddy so much he was a diligent follower of the faith and a wonderful grandfather he cared for everyone and their spiritual status he loved to sing and was always in good spirits thank you all for the encouragement and flowers you have sent our way you have really helped me to get past this hard boundary in my life he helped many people turn towards Jesus he loved the church and everyone in it he would never let anyone stray without speaking to them and genuinely cared for their well being that to me was amazing he was an all around amazing person and I am so blessed to have lived in the same household as him for ten years He taught many things that will help me through life and I hope one day I can at least mirror the greatness and humbleness that he had I love you all thank you.

Uncle Skeeter.. Your smile and bible knowledge will be missed! I will never forget you always pointing out the hair on my arms. Comparing it to the color of a corn field and pulling it. Thank you for always taking us on Gad Road Run in your car, going as fast as possible. I was always scared but the thrill will never be forgotten. Hope you are enjoying being with God and the angels above. Love, Savannah

I met Bill in the mid-eighties, shortly after he moved to Hixson, TN, to preach for the North Hixson church of Christ. I had already moved to Alabama by then. Bill loved his alma mater, Auburn University, and I enjoyed watching at least one Iron Bowl with him. I am not much of a fan of collegiate sports but enjoy watching a game with a fan. And I never enjoyed it so much as when I was with Bill. He would explain the plays of his team as well as the mistakes of the referees. But, as much as he loved Auburn, he loved the Lord even more. And, as much as I enjoyed watching Auburn football with him, I enjoyed studying God's word with him even more. On more than one occasion, Bill gave me great insight into the intricacies of God's word. He was a true soldier of the cross who has finally laid his armor down and gone home to dwell in peace. His life has inspired me; and I pray that, at the end of my life on earth, I will have been half the soldier he was. Jody, Zach, Hugh, and the brothers and sisters of North Hixson, my heart goes out to you; but Bill is in a far, far better place and is no longer incapacitated by the physical afflictions that accompany growing old.

My life forever changed because of Bill Skeeter Walton. He married my sister Jody and introduced me to my husband Sam. Skeeter was funny, knowledgeable and a strong soldier for Christ. He touched so many lives and will continue influencing others for years to come. I’ll miss hearing his beautiful voice sing and his shout of “WAR EAGLE.” God blessed our family when He brought Skeeter into our lives.
