Obituary of James Joseph Mulroony

James Joseph Mulroony III, of Lookout Mountain, Tennessee, passed away on Sunday, August 4, 2013. Mr. Mulroony was born on September 23, 1930, in West Paterson, NJ. He was a resident of the Chattanooga area for the past 41 years. He was a member of St. Jude Roman Catholic Church and Our Lady of the Mount Catholic Church. He was a member of the Service Core of Retired Executives and a volunteer for Catholic Charities.
He was retired as controller from R.J. Reynolds Nabisco. He received a B.S. in Accounting from St. Peter’s College and attended graduate school at Seton Hall University.
Mr. Mulroony was preceded in death by his wife, Mary D. Mulroony and son, James Joseph (Jimmy) Mulroony IV.
Survivors include his two daughters and their husbands, Eileen Mulroony Joyce and Walter Joyce of Cornelius, N.C.; Kellyann Mulroony Johnson and Doug Johnson of Lookout Mountain, Tennessee; grandchildren, Brendan Joyce of Cornelius, N.C.; and Mary Kate and Riggs Johnson of Lookout Mountain, TN. He is also survived by his sister, Mary M. Mulroony of West Paterson, N.J. and a Brother Thomas Mulroony (Diane) of Parsippany, N.J.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2:00 p.m. on Friday at Our Lady of the Mount Catholic Church, Lookout Mountain, Georgia with the Rev. Thomas B. Shuler officiating. A celebration of his life will follow. Preceding the Mass a private Burial will be held at the Forest Hills Cemetery at 1:00 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or the Leukemia/Lymphoma Society. Special thanks is given to his friends at Alexian Village for their excellent care.
