Obituary of George Stephen Rachels

George Stephen Rachels, 72, of South Aster Avenue, Chattanooga (Tiftonia/Lookout Valley) passed away on August 1, 2017 at NHC Healthcare in Rossville after a prolonged illness. George was born in Davidson County, North Carolina on September 13, 1944 to Lonnie Rachels and Rosa Dorsett Rachels. He was a member of the Wildwood Seventh-day Adventist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Robert E. Rachels. Surviving are his wife, Lisa Rachels; two sisters, Shirley Farr (Henry) of Calhoun, Georgia and Dorthena Haney (George) of Lubbock, Texas; eleven children; 28 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held in the chapel of Wann Funeral Home on Friday, August 4 at 1:00 PM. with Pastors Henry Farr and Bill Boykin officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM Friday at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Lakewood Memory Gardens West.
