When I learned that Gene had been transferred to the Terrace, I felt the loss of one’s favorite pal, he kept the place interesting, we seemed to somehow always get in trouble. Oh the laughter, or the singing Amazing grace, I saw a sign of him that was serious too, it was before meals, he would lead all in prayer. He loved the sunroom that he helped design and build. I will miss him and his medulla oblongata. So happy to think about him able to stroll through life hopefully with his favorite walking stick and to find peace near a pond on a gulf course. He helped many with the honors golf program. I kept his number to call his lost phone and ensured that big tv had the golf channel on 25 hours a day.

I'm so sorry for your loss and I offer my condolences to everyone who was affected by it. Death is one of the most painful experiences we face in life. But it is encouraging to know that God understands our pain. At Revelation 21:3,4 he gives us the promise that in the future, suffering and death will be no more and at John 5:28,29 we have the wonderful hope of seeing our dead loved ones again. I know it doesn't take away the pain you are experiencing at this time but it does give us comfort and help us to cope. And again, so sorry for your loss.

I first met Mr. Robbins at Dixie Yarns where I started my first job in the engineering Dept. Gene had made me feel a part of the department and even went out of his way to teach me things that helped me fit in. Years later we had moved my mother in to Alexian Grove and we were meeting some of the residents and there sat Gene. It was a great surprise. He always had good things to say about everyone and could always make you smile and laugh. My sisters and I enjoyed every minute with him. I know from listening to him that his children meant everything to him. Gene had just a love for life. He will be missed. Theresa McKnight

As a friend of Wes's growing up I was fortunate to spend a good amount of time at the Robbins' home and also share a family vacation with them at Pawley's Island one summer. Gene was always a fun, upbeat, outgoing guy who was quick with a joke and usually had a smile on his face. Whenever I was at their house they treated me like I was practically a member of their family. He was a great father to Lisa and Wes. It was rare to be in a tennis match with Wes and not see Gene there watching and supporting. He was also a business associate of my dad and I know my dad had a lot of respect for both Gene as a person and his knowledge of the textile industry. Gene is someone I will always remember and I am thankful for all the time I spent with him growing up. My deepest condolences to all of the family. My thoughts and prayers are with you all. With love and support, Franko Harris
