Obituary of James E. Eason
Please share a memory of James to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
James E. Eason, 69, went off belay and coiled his ropes on November 2, 2016 after a long battle with Myeloma. No one had more zest or fun in this life than Jim. If he was your friend, it was an enduring friendship. A short list of Jim’s passion’s included skiing, climbing, sailing, diving and his standard poodle, Logan. He also loved sharing stimulating conversations around our table with good friends, good food and good wine.
Jim was born in Chattanooga. He was a graduate of Rossville High School (1965); U.S. Army (1966-68), including a tour in Vietnam with 192nd Assault Helicopter Company; B.A. Geology (1971) UTC, Cum Laude, member of Alpha Society for scholastic excellence; Master of Geology (1973) University of South Carolina.
Jim worked as an exploration petroleum geologist from the Gulf of Mexico to the North Slope of Alaska. Various interesting Alaska career moves led to becoming Director of Alaska Division of Oil and Gas (1986-95). In 1995 he began his consulting business in Oil and Gas, Management and Policy.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Spencer and Lillian Eason; sister, Betty Ryan; brother Spencer Eason III.
Survivors who cherish their many life adventures with Jim are his wife of 50 years, Brenda (Miller) Eason; brother, Frank D. Eason; in-laws, Becky and Joe Kirby; nieces and nephews; and a host of dear friends from coast to coast.
A special thank you to Dr. Davy Daniel, our excellent partner on Jim’s journey with Myeloma. To the crisis team with Hospice of Chattanooga know you hold a special place in our hearts.
A celebration of life will be held December 3rd at our home on Lookout Mountain.
In Jim’s honor please contribute the cause where you feel there is a need.
