Obituary of Frances Koha King

Frances Koha King, 58, of Hixson passed away Sunday, May 26, 2013 after a valiant fight against pancreatic cancer. She was born in Puerto Rico and moved with her parents and sister to Ohio in 1956. She graduated from Berea High School in 1972 and graduated from nursing school as a RN in 1975. After working as a nurse at a local Ohio hospital, she then went on to become a Second Lt. in the US Air Force in 1976 serving in the Air Force Nurse Corps and later in the Army Reserves. She graduated Old Dominion University, with a B.S.N., in 1984. Frances was a devout Catholic who served as a Lector from the time she was a teenager. She was a founding member of the Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Soddy-Daisy. She became involved with the pro-life movement. She was actively involved in the formation of the Chattanoogans for Life, helped organize Oratory contests, and chaperoned teenagers at the March for Life in Washington D.C. for many years. Her most treasured accomplishments were her almost 31 years of marriage to her husband Kenneth, nurturing her children until they reached adulthood, loving her two grand children, and being a true friend to many people in her church and community. She was preceded in death by her mother, Carmen Koha. Survivors include her husband, Kenneth King, Jr.; son, Justin King; daughters, Brianna Daily ( spouse Aaron Daily), and Jacquelyn King; father, Frank Koha; sisters, Anna Weinman, and Marie Riedel; brother, Andrew Koha; grandchildren, Lee Daily and Eryana Daily. The family will receive friends at Legacy Funeral Home in Soddy-Daisy on Sunday June 2nd from 2-4 and 6-8 PM with prayers at 8 PM. A funeral mass will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday June 3rd at Holy Spirit Catholic Church with Msgr. Al Humbrecht and Father Mike Creson officiating. Interment will follow at Hamilton County Memorial Park with military honors. Pallbearers will be Aaron Daily, Frank Shinn, Thomas Kellam, Chris Leonard, Nick Hanson, Mark Madsen, and Daniel Smith. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Holy Spirit Catholic Church, P.O. Box 1015, Soddy-Daisy, TN 37384; or Belmont Abbey College, 100 Belmont-Mt. Holly Road, Belmont NC 28012.
