I worked with Ansley at ANB/SunTrust from 1985-2003. He was my direct manager for most of that time. He was one of the kindest men I’d ever known. I learned so much from him. I hated when he retired, but was privileged to help plan his retirement party. I think we surprised him! He ended up doing consulting work with us so we still got to have him around. I loved meeting Betty and Will (I typed up something of his for school once).
I really enjoyed the Dismembered Tennesseans as well! There are some bluegrass songs that I can’t hear without Ansley’s voice singing them in my mind. I called on his birthday for a number of years after until he didn’t quite remember me. I’ll always remember you, Ansley!
The most fun was at Highlands, NC with the Dismembered Tennesseans and Mose, as he was so affectionally known, kept me laughing the entire time.
He and Betty are the two dearest people you could ever want to be around.
He will be missed by all who knew him, including myself.
