Obituary of Lela Hood

Lela Hood, 94, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 12, 2022. Born in 1929 at home on Starr Mountain in East Tennessee, she lived most of her life in the Chattanooga area. She was passionate about ballroom dancing and traveling. She had a twenty-five-year career with Erlanger Hospital, was a member of the Credit Women’s International Association, eventually becoming President of that organization, and was a long-time member of First Baptist Church, Chattanooga. She was preceded by husbands, Benton Hood, Sr. and George Alexander, daughter, Dianne Sitton, grandson, Paul Cobb, three sisters and six brothers. Survivors include her children, Victor (Pam) Hood, Benton (Wanda Beebe) Hood, Jr. and Scottie Hood, grandchildren, Kevin (Heather) Cobb, Leigh-Ann (Patrick) Parrish, Christy (Kevin) Davis, Mandy (Ryan Williams) Hood, Jackie (Jimmy) Przybylowicz, great-grandchildren, Chelsea Cobb, Olivia (Jay) Terrell, Zeke (Ashley) Cobb, Jake Cobb, Porter Cobb, Salem (Mary Jane) Cobb, Juliette Cobb, Gavin Parrish, Elizabeth Parrish, Mollie Davis, Savanna Davis, Weston Davis, Bensen Hood, Jamina Williams, Miller Przybylowicz, Jackson Przybylowicz, great-great-grandchildren, Jenna, Roxie, Daylan, Shy and Sawyer. Graveside services will be held on Thursday, November 17, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. at the Chattanooga Memorial Park. The family requests that no flowers be sent. In lieu of flowers, Ms. Hood requested that donations be made to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
