Obituary of Jean Williams

Gloria Jean Simpson Williams, 91, of Blue Ridge, GA and formerly of Hixson went home on Saturday, August 6, 2022. Jean was a charter member of Middle Valley Church of God. Her parents, the late P.C. and Mamie Simpson started the church in their living room. She was the granddaughter to two state overseers of the Church of God. Jean was the pianist or organist until she moved to Blue Ridge, GA 11 years ago to be with her daughters. Jean was a caregiver to her husband, the late Cecil V. Williams and her mother, Mamie. She was employed by the Hamilton County Health Department in their records department for several years. She also did her own yard maintenance until she was 80. She was a devout Christian, a believer who loved animals and never met a stray cat. Jean was a Registrar for Hamilton County and worked every election. Surviving her are her son, Jerry (Judy) Williams of Middle Valley; daughters, Paula Williams of Blue Ridge, and Suzanne (John) Thomason; nephew, Ronnie (Sue) Gibson of Hixson; several cousins and spouses. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, August 11th in Hamilton County Memorial Park with Rev. Mitch McClure officiating. Their will be no visitation at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made in her name to Middle Valley Church of God, or The Alice Fund, which provides medical care and supplies to cats. Donations can be made at thealicefund.org.
