Ben Hicks was the “miracle man.” I’ve heard Sis Janice call him that so many times with such affection and admiration. I’ve always admired the love they share and the strong faith that Bro Hicks possessed. The last time we sat together, he shared his God was preparing him to transition to heaven, and it was so beautiful to see his faith about GOING HOME! Our grief is mingled with joy over His receipt of his heavenly reward! Much love Pastor Jimmie and Renee

I met Ben and Janice when they owned the radio station beside my grandparents home. My son was a ring bearer at Kandys wedding. I attended their Evangelism Breakthrough classes at Daisy Church of God. That was 50 years ago. To say they Ben and Janice were friends does not do them justice. They were the reason I am Christian today. Ben was one of the kindest, most considerate and compassionate men I have ever met. His Christian walk has been a wonderful example to our entire family. I am so blessed to have known him. I know he in in heaven rejoicing with the angels and our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. I am honored to be friends with Kandy and Ken and their entire family. I will miss Ben and his kind heart. But I will see you soon as we all will. My love and condolences to a great man of God and his beautiful family. Sincerely, Regina, Steve Kelley and family. Joy comes in the morning.

To the dearest friend of my life, thank you for your kind words and for sharing your heart. Not only is my dad celebrating in heaven, but he is rejoicing with your daughter and my sister.
Yes, we that are alive and remain, shall be caught up to be with the Lord, and will see all our loved ones already gone on that day,

Ben and Sister Hicks started the Faithbuilders Class at Daisy Church of God. They taught the class faithfully for years touching the lives of everyone who attended. Ben always provided great visual aids which accompanied the lesson. He often shared stories that were very inspirational. The class has been praying for them both during this time. They touched me and the many who attended the class, some of which have gone on to be with the Lord. The class is still active with a few new attendees which we are all brothers and sisters in Christ. We are forever grateful to Ben and Janice for their contribution to Kingdom of God and I know their reward will be great in Heaven.

I knew Ben through his daughter Kandace. I attended a Bible Study that she and her parents led at her home. There are many things to be said for a man that not only loves his family but displays it by his kind acts of service. The Bible Study was "Rooted and Grounded". To be established in the Word is the only sure way to live a full and prosperous life. Ben exhibited that walk by his words, gentle spirit, and warm smile. He will be missed by many!

I have many memories of Ben that stand out in my mind, yet when I think of him, none of them are void of the smile that was always on his face. He was a man that was full of joy, and it radiated from him. The joy that he had was not predicated upon his situation or setting, whether it was in a hospital room as I visited with him, a church foyer as we greeted one another, or out in town, Ben always had a smile and a presence of joy that went with him wherever he was at.
Undoubtedly, he loved his Jesus, his family, and those that were around him. It was an honor to be Ben’s pastor for the time that I was. To say that the world was a better place because Ben Hicks was in it is an understatement.
How wonderful it is to know, that in spite of our sorrow at his loss, for him it has been a gain; he has stepped from the shadow into the sunshine. He has gone from knowing a joy unspeakable and full of glory, to being in the presence of the One who is that eternal joy. He has put away all tears and sadness, and now, forever, his face will only know smiles and laughter.
To the family, our deepest condolences and prayers to you all.

Thank you, Reverend Bolton for taking a few moments to talk about my dad. He loved you and your heart and care for your people.
Also, for displaying a Shepherd’s heart at the different times you came and visited and prayed for him while he was in the hospital.
Though this is a difficult time and great loss for the family, we know that we will see him again.

The “But God” Man
How can I talk about my dad without sharing God? He was a gentle and quiet man, but he was also a “Mighty Warrior” who fought more battles than most would face in ten lifetimes.
Major bouts of esophageal and colon cancer, and ongoing heart issues. We use to call him the bionic man because of all the parts removed, and new ones replaced.
Why am I sharing this, because he was a man of great faith.
Each and every stay at the hospital, he wouldn’t declare the battle, but that God would take care of him.
He continued…I’m in a win/win situation. If I live, I’m surrounded by my love ones, and if I die, I’m in the presence of the Lord.
Never, did he talk of the mountains he faced, nor did he ever question God as to why him.
He encouraged others continually while facing these mountains in each and every hospital stay with steadfast faith and a smile.
He taught his family to be strong and courageous, and TRUST God.
So many, many miracles, and what would become the family’s declaration over him.
The enemy meant to take him out…BUT GOD brought him out!
My dad is not one who likes to be in the forefront, and he works quietly to accomplish much for kingdom purposes. Yet, it is in his gentle ways, that he has been a light and inspiration of hope for many.
I know that he is in heaven, sharing the goodness and faithfulness of God, because he always loved bragging on Jesus.
The Author and Finisher of his faith is still writing his story in the hearts of those that remain because of his scars in battles is now victory arrived!
We will never forget your light and love you manifested while with us!
I love you daddy, and as I said to you the day before your departure…I”ll see you in the morning.
We will celebrate all that you are in memorial of all these precious memories you left, but your testament of faith remains in our hearts forever.
Through Christ Jesus, you are the strongest man I’ve ever known!
Psalm 1
Isaiah 50:4
If the “Hall of Faith” book in Hebrews was continually written, I know that your name would have been listed.
You have fought a goid fight, you have finished the race, and you have kept the faith…
Psalm 1 He shall be like a tree planted by the waters…
The seeds you have planted shall continually bear fruit!

With Brother Ben’s life well lived and his appointed mission accomplished and faithfully executed, we know to look for you and shall meet you near the feet of Jesus, the Author and finisher of our faith. You were a friend at all times, taught by the best on how to be one, the Lord Himself. We were privileged to watch your Godly example of what a faithful servant, a loving and kind husband and father, a dedicated servant, and a good friend should be like. Our hearts rejoice for you and your reward you have now received but grieve for ourself at your absence. For you it will seem but a moment, for us a bit longer, but goodnight. See you in the morning my friend, my brother.

Scattered pictures of a family man who lived, loved, and reflected the heart and love of our Heavenly Father.
I have heard some say that it’s hard to love a Heavenly Father that I have never seen, when I have lived with one that I can see.
The meaning lies deep in stating that the love of an earthly father is so important in what is sown into the hearts of his children.
We have been blessed with a beautiful, loving father, so it was easy for me to run to a Heavenly Father.
In the last few days of my dad’s life, we reminisced of many of my childhood memories together.
We lived in Florence, SC, at the time, and I was probably around 8 years of age. I went on adventure, as I did quite often playing, and went running barefoot through a ditch looking for lost treasures. As I made my way further up the ditch, I felt a sharp and burning pain in my right foot at my toe.
I had stepped on a sharp object, and it had deeply cut and penetrated my toe.
My sister, Kathy was near and heard me screaming. She started toward me to help me, but I yelled for her to go get my daddy. Over and over, I yelled for my daddy. No one else but my dad could touch or rescue me.
In a matter of a few minutes, I looked up and saw my dad, and I knew in that moment, everything would be ok.
My toe had been cut deeply, and stitches would be needed.
Quickly, my dad ran and scooped me up in his arms to rescue me.
This is the way our father was in every situation of my life, and his gentle nature always gave me security.
My earthly father was a godly man who always reflected the Heavenly Fathers love. Not just in word, but in deed.
He was my hero, and my constant.
He taught me so much throughout these many years.
Because of him, I can freely receive God’s love, protection, and comfort.
As we progressed in conversation, and I shared my heart, he said that he really didn’t feel that he had done anything.
Humility is another trait of my father. I looked at him and said, “You are the tree planted by the waters, that brings forth fruit in it’s season” and whatsoever he does shall prosper.
(Psalm 1)
The seeds my dad has been planted in the lives of his children, family, and friends remains, and will continually reproduce.
He smiled at me, because he realized that even in that moment, he was seeing the seed was producing in me that he which he had planted.
Train up a child in the way the he should go, and when he is older, he will not depart from it.
So thankful for a Godly heritage my father gave me, and for always reflecting the heart that points to my Heavenly Father.

My papa liked lighthouses and while cool I’m not really sure the significance. Today while reflecting on my time with him I started to think more about lighthouses.
Lighthouses are beacons of light and hope. They provide safe passage for sailors and protect.
My papa, a pastor, has provided safe passage to lives throughout his time in the ministry. But less obvious, papa exuded light and positivity. Even in the darkest of times papa was still able to crack a smile or proclaim his love for life. There was a glow about him that was infectious and provided hope to anyone who was lucky enough to interact with him.
Papa was a living lighthouse whom we were all so blessed to have guide us.

My papa went home to be with Jesus this morning! I'm so thankful for him in my life! If him and my nanny had never taken me in, I would have taken my life and never known Jesus! I got radically saved living in their house in TN for those 3 years! My life has never been the same! I would not be where I am today if it wasn't for them! He showed me what love looks like! I would watch him love my nanny every day! He would tell me and nanny we were the most beautiful women he's ever seen. He would also write sweet notes to my nanny! I even remember Nanny going out of town and he stayed home. I walked in and said, "Why are you crying papa", and he said I can't even take a day being without her. I said" Well go papa, I'm 22. You don't have to stay for me. He packed his bags and left just to be with her! " They had that notebook movie kind of love! I prayed I'd marry someone like my papa but more outgoing than him...haha. Because I wanted someone to love me like that! God answered me! Thank you papa for showing me what love looks like! Every time I share my testimony he's in it! I can't not share my testimony without him and my nanny being in it! Because it was their obedience to God and love that made me the woman I am today! I would of never been in ministry, or married the love of my life. If it wasn't for his and my nannies obedience to God!
