Obituary of Victor Otis Root, Jr.

Victor Root, 65, of Hixson, TN passed away Thursday, February 24, 2022 at his home. He was a former stock manager with Food City and was of the Catholic faith. He loved watching sports on television and was a huge fan of the Chicago Cubs. He loved spending time with his family. He was preceded in death by his father, Victor Otis Root, Sr. and a sister, Vickie Root. Survivors include his son, Cory Root, mother, Shirley Root, brother, Charles Root, sisters, Barbara Combs, Linda (John) Kramer, Darlene Bonea, Judith (Kenneth) Godfrey, Cynthia (Dale) Smith and Kathy (Wayne) Piepenbrink, grandchildren, Eva and Warner Root and several nieces, nephews and a host of extended family. Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 4th, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Legacy Funeral Home with Bro. Julian Atwood officiating. Burial will follow in the Hamilton Memorial Gardens with family serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, March 2, 2022 from 2 p.m. until 8 p.m., Thursday, March 3, 2022 from 2 p.m. until 8 p.m. and Friday, March 4, 2022 from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. in the funeral home.
