Please share a memory of Elizabeth "Beth" to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Elizabeth “Beth” Anderson Crumbliss of Lookout Mountain passed away peacefully on January 25, 2022. Beth was born July 3, 1935 in Elkhart, Indiana. While living in Elkhart, Beth became a competitive water skier where she won many accolades. She attended Briar Cliff College at which time she met her husband, Henry “Sandy” Crumbliss, who was a student at Dartmouth College. They were married Sandy’s senior year and soon after, moved to Lookout Mountain and began their life together. Beth had a degree in cartography and worked at TVA before starting a family. Beth and Sandy raised three children together and gave them incredible childhood memories. Beth was such a wonderful mother; she was kind, supportive and was always there for us when we needed her. Her commitment to volunteering, whether it was at the elementary school on Lookout Mountain, Laurelwood Garden Club, the Cotton Ball, the development of Bluff Foundry Park or running the gift shop at the Hunter Museum, made a lasting impact on her children and instilled in all of us a sense of giving and caring for others. She had a quote from Harry Truman in her home “office” also known as “the little room” that said: “It is amazing what you can accomplish if you do not care who gets the credit.” Beth truly believed and lived by those words. Beth is preceded in death by her parents, George and Elizabeth Anderson, her brothers Colonel William Anderson and Bruce Anderson, and her husband of 52 years, Sandy Crumbliss. She leaves behind three children Clay Crumbliss, wife Gina, Bruce Crumbliss, wife Cindy and Helen Chambers, husband Craig; her grandchildren Clay Crumbliss Jr., wife Rachael and their son Benjamin; Brooke Crumbliss McCants, husband Harrison and their children Harrison, Ireland and Hunter; H. Bruce Crumbliss, wife Arlie and their daughter Elizabeth “Libby;” Parker Chambers Bertles, husband Alex, Lauren Chambers and Isabel Chambers. The family would like to give thanks to Caris Healthcare and to the entire staff at Thrive at Brow Wood on Lookout Mountain. Our mother spent her final years living at Thrive and she loved every minute. The staff is caring, dedicated and wonderful. We cannot express our gratitude for the love and compassion they gave our mother. There will be a private service for family only at the Harriet Caldwell Memorial Garden at the Church of the Good Shepherd. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Church of the Good Shepherd on Lookout Mountain or the charity of your choice. Arrangements are by Wann Funeral & Cremation Center at the foot of historic Lookout Mountain, St. Elmo. (423) 821-7551 Please share your memories, stories and photos at www.wannfuneralhome.com.
