Obituary of JoAnn Dimatteo Poschke

JoAnn DiMatteo Poschke, 67, of Hixson passed away on Friday, January 7, 2022. JoAnn obtained her bachelor’s degree in Psychology from UTC. She went on to get her master’s degree in counseling where she devoted her life to serving others. She was of the Christian Faith and enjoyed arts and crafts. She loved the ocean, lighthouses, and collecting sea shells. JoAnn was a loving mother, and her favorite name to be called was “Nana”. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Mamie Dimatteo, formerly of St. Joseph, Michigan, and step-daughter, Sheli Lerke-Sobralski. JoAnn is survived by her beloved son, Joe (Amanda Holland) Poschke of Hixson; daughters, Jill (Rick) O’Daniel of Ooltewah, Joy (Ken) Rathman of Soddy-Daisy, Hallie Poschke and Lori Lerke-Sobralski; sisters, Toni Karnavas, Mary Rapaich-Dimatteo, and Chris DiMatteo; aunt, Katherine Jackson of East Brainerd; grandchildren, Maddie, Bailey and Gavin Poschke, Forest Baker; Noah, Jacob and Hannah O’Daniel, and Jonathan, Alyson, and Natalie Rathman, and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. A service to celebrate JoAnn’s life will be held at 3PM on Saturday, January 29th in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Joe Sneed officiating. The family will receive friends from 1PM until the time of the service at the funeral home.
