Obituary of Bruce Paul Speer

Captain Bruce Paul Speer, 83 of Chattanooga, TN passed away Tuesday November 2, 2021 in a local hospice facility. He graduated from Central High School, Class of 56, earned a BS degree from The University of Chattanooga and then enlisted in the United States Air Force. He proudly served for 8 years as a B-52 Navigator/ Bombardier and enjoyed his talks with other veterans. He was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church and enjoyed serving in the different ministries with Freida. It was truly a blessing when the church was formed as they came to know and love many friends along the way. He was also a devoted member of the Knights of Columbus Council #14079 for many years and loved serving the community. If you knew Bruce, you know he loved visitors and always had a story or project to tell you about. He was so grateful for his family, friends and caregivers and will be dearly missed. He was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Freida Firmin Speer, first wife, Jacqueline Bettis Speer, parents, Paul Rudolph Speer, Margaret Lowe Speer and Mary Louise McIlvain Speer. Survivors include his daughters, Candace (Richard) Hadden of Chattanooga, Paula (Carl) Watson of Sale Creek and brother, John Warren Speer, Providence, RI, grandchildren, Cheyenne Hurst, Rachel Hadden and Preston Hadden, a niece, nephews and extended family. A Funeral Mass will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, November 5, 2021 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Soddy-Daisy. The family will receive friends from 12 Noon until 1:00 p.m. in the church.
