Obituary of Nancy Wells

Nancy Wells, 71, was born on April 8, 1950, in Herrin, Illinois. She passed from this life on April 25, 2021, in Chattanooga, Tennessee. She graduated from Johnston City High School in Johnston City, Illinois, with the Class of 1968. At the age of 20, Nancy met the love of her life, The Reverend Gene Wells, and set out on a journey together for a lifetime of ministry. They served in churches in Illinois, Kentucky, Louisiana, Tennessee, and Georgia. They also spent several years traveling across the country with their family serving as Commissioned Evangelists in the Church of the Nazarene. Nancy is survived by her three children: Greg Wells (and Andrea) of Ocean Springs, Mississippi; Sarah Webb (and Kevin) of Chattanooga, Tennessee; and Justin Wells (and Angie) of Fortville, Indiana. She is also blessed with nine wonderful grandchildren: Tanner Wells, Caedmon Webb, Jaggerd Wells, Molly Kate Webb, Zeke Webb, Nate Webb, Mason Wells, Olivia Wells, and Emmeline Wells. Nancy is preceded in death by her husband, The Reverend Gene Wells; her parents, The Reverend Charles Vernell and Gayle Clark; and her in-laws, Bishop Donald and Vera Wells. Nancy was an incredible support to her husband in ministry and was an accomplished and anointed musician and arranger. Through the years, she was known as many things to many different people, but her two most cherished titles were “Mom” and “Nana.” She loved her family deeply and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Funeral services will be held at 1PM on Saturday, May 8th, 2021 at Grace Church of the Nazarene, 6310 Dayton Blvd, Hixson, TN. Interment will follow in Hamilton County Memorial Park.
