On Easter Sunday, April 4, 2021, Carolyn Culp passed away from complications of an extended illness. She was a blessing to family and friends. She will be remembered as a devoted mother, wife, sister and friend. She was born in Barnesville, Georgia on March 29, 1928 to Oscar and Nettie Weathers. She was active at Gordon Military High School and college, where she served on numerous committees. She worked for the town of Barnesville during the post-war years. During that time,she married Arthur Culp in 1953. The couple relocated to Lookout Mountain in 1958. Carolyn filled her 50 years on the mountain with raising her family, volunteering in the schools, supporting her church communities, serving as the Walker County registrar and working for many years at The Barn Nursery. Carolyn is survived by her children Christopher Mark Culp (Lynn) of Williamsburg, Virginia and Cheryl Marie Culp Schenck of Lookout Mountain, 4 grandchildren; Jennifer Culp Salandra (Matt) of Hackettstown, New Jersey, Hunter Culp of Washington, DC, Rex Schenck (Sammie) and Cailyn Schenck of Athens, Georgia, great-grandchild; Avery Rose Salandra, and niece Jody Singletary (Tony) of Griffin, Georgia. She is preceded in death by the love of her life, Arthur Edwards Culp, her parents Oscar and Nettie Weathers; sisters Marianna Weathers, and Helen Hardy, Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, April 12, 2021 at Chattanooga National Cemetery. A celebration of life service will be held at 12 Noon on Monday at Party Bites Kitchen, 806 E. 12th Street, Chattanooga. Carolyn’s personal request in lieu of flowers donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital. Post Office Box 50, Memphis, Tennessee 38101 Arrangements are by Wann Funeral & Cremation Center.
