Obituary of Patrick Clayton Cox

Patrick C. Cox, a long time Lookout Valley resident, died peacefully on Wednesday, January 13, 2021. He was 93. Mr. Cox was preceded in death by his wife of 70 years, Mary Irene Cox. He was a U.S. Army veteran having served his country honorably as a Military Policeman during World War II. PC, as he was known by his coworkers, was a U.S Postal Service employee. He retired after completing a distinguished 30-year career. Pat spent his retirement years in service to family and friends. He was an accomplished auto mechanic and enjoyed fishing. And, he displayed a keen interest in U.S. history, particularly the Civil War and trains in general. Pat enjoyed visiting the Florida Gulf Coast and the American West. He was an avid fan of vintage TV westerns with his favorites being Gunsmoke, Bonanza, and The Rifleman. He also relished a quiet morning read of the newspaper and a cup of coffee. Mr. Cox was a member of Lookout Valley Baptist Church. Pat and Irene, as they were known to all, also served their church as primary custodians for a number of years. As we pause to honor Patrick C. Cox and celebrate his life, let us also cherish the thought that "He lived a good life and died a good man". Survivors include sons, Patrick C. (Carol) Cox, Jr., Stanley J. (Betty Ann) and Bruce E. (Rhonda) Cox; daughter, Carol (Gary) Starnes; grandchildren, Caitlin Cox, Stephanie Cox, Allison Cox, Carle Wahyudi, Patricia Ganger, Lesley McDonald, Christina Starnes and Bryan Starnes; great-grandchildren, Kaki Ann, Michael, Carter, Lily Jo, Wally, Anna Irene, Avery, and Ada Ruth. Funeral services will be held at noon ET on Saturday, January 23, 2021 at the graveside at the Lakewood Memory Gardens West in Lookout Valley with Darrell Smith officiating.
