We were so sorry to hear of Mike’s passing. As his neighbors for the past couple of years we only knew him briefly, but he always greeted us with such genuine kindness. We will miss seeing his friendly smile. Our deepest condolences to his family and loved ones.

Pat, Susan, and Sam. I am so sorry to learn of Mike"s passing. I felt very close to him after 6 years at McCallie together and our sojourn hiking the lower AT for 2 months in the summer of '74. Mike was always such a joy to be with. Gentle, funny and scary smart. And a good friend. He enriched my own life and I have vivid memories of our times together. I grieve with you and your family. Dear Pat, Susan and Sam,
Your brother blended his intellect, humility, athleticism, friendly disposition, quiet leadership and love of God's creation into a unique spirit. He packed several lifetimes worth of zest and experiences into his all-too-short life journey. I will forever cherish the memory of the many great times we shared. I promise you that Mike Shuck will live on in the collective memories of an untold multitude of friends, colleagues and acquaintances. He is already, and will forever be missed.
