Johnny Eugene Harper Johnny Eugene Harper of Soddy Daisy, TN passed away in his home surrounded by his family on August 31st, 2020, following a five year battle with Parkinson’s Disease. He was 83 years old. Johnny graduated from Hixson High school and worked as a welder at Combustion Engineering for the next 30 years and a member of the Tennessee National Guard for 6 years. After his retirement, he attended Chattanooga State to obtain his Teaching Certification and served for 11 years as a Welding Instructor at Sequoyah Vocational School. He always regarded teaching as his most rewarding career. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Mary Ellen Harper, Son Christopher E. Harper, Favorite Daughter-in-Law - Lisa Harper, Grandsons/Grand Daughter-in-Laws’ , Daniel (Koral) Harper, and Logan (Jen) Harper, Brother Jimmy Harper, Cousin Audeline Phillips, and many special In-Laws, nieces and nephews. Johnny was a 40 year member of Daisy Masonic Lodge No. 706 and Daisy Order of Eastern Star #328. He loved fishing, rabbit hunting with his beagles, and also well known for building carburetors. Our family requests that in lieu of flowers, that you please send cards, etc. to our very special Nurses/Caregivers - Mary Kincer and Nancy Haggerty, to recognize their outstanding service during this difficult time and continued care of his wife Mary Harper. A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, September 3rd, 2020 at 1:00pm in the Chapel of Legacy Funeral Home. Chris Harper will be providing the eulogy and requests that you share special memories..especially funny ones, during this time. A graveside Masonic Funeral will follow across the street at the Hamilton County Memorial Park with Brother David Bacon officiating. Pallbearers will be: Chris Harper, Daniel Harper, Logan Harper, Jerrel Wright, Alan Hensley, and Barry Baker. Honorary Pallbearers include: James Jefferies, Hoyt Carbaugh, Claude Justice, Frank Conger, Bill Davidson, John Barat, and Donald Woodward The family will receive friends on Thursday, September 3rd, 2020 from 11:00am to 1:00pm in the funeral home.
