BB Branton was always promoting the athlete and team. Since grade school he took interest in sports and made sure all were invited to his sports table. I have fond memories of his organizing year after year Dixie youth players to a reunion game at the Commons. How could you ever turn him down? You had to be there. I did not matter that you struck out or dropped the fly. He would report it as a glorious series.
Chattanooga, sports fans and our youth will miss him. May the memory of his love of the game live on.

BB Branton was one of the most thoughtful, caring, and considerate people I’ve ever known. If there was anything going on in the sport of wrestling he would always give me a call or send me an email to keep me in the loop. There isn’t a team or individual who competed in sports (that he covered) that he didn’t know most of their stats about them and their team.
In all the years I have known BB I never heard him say a bad or discerning word about anyone. He was truly a gentleman.
BB is sitting at the right hand of God, offering his statistical assistance, just in case it is needed.
BB is one of the few who could appreciate the picture I posted.
Godspeed my friend. With love, Kenny Whitworth

It was great knowing BB for a brief period. As a sports nut, it was always a thrill to talk to him since he knew everything about Chattanooga sports and beyond. I appreciated that he gave Hixson High tennis as much attention as his own McCallie School tennis. His article on the McCallie tennis teams of the '77 era or so was one of my favorites, along with his all-time state wrestling team.
