Obituary of Douglas Churchill West

After a brief illness, on March 12, 2020, Douglas (Doug) West passed peacefully surrounded by his family. Doug was preceded in death by his parents, Arnold “Skip” West of Las Vegas NV; Clara West and brother Steve West of Rossville, GA; nieces Megan Lucas and Amie Oric. Survivors include his sisters, Sue (Susie) Hall (Butch), Dottie Lucas and Samantha Dawson (Chris); Girlfriend, Faye Bowen; Nieces, Danielle Slade, Adrianne Cooper (Josh), Jennifer McCullough (Jesse) and Nephew, Brad Marsh; and several more niece and nephews, Aunt and Uncle and many cousins. As owner of Grumpy’s Bookstore, Doug shared his love for books and reading countless varieties of books for enhancing his knowledge and getting lost in a story. He enjoyed exercising and going to Florida for the sun and beach. He had a fondness (oh who are we kidding, he loved the Patriots). His display of Patriot memorabilia was everywhere in his house. Please know that Doug loved his family and girlfriend very much and would do anything for them. In return, his family and girlfriend loved him dearly and our life will be missing an important part of our family puzzle. Doug will remain alive in our hearts as we try to live each day without him. We love you brother. Services will be held privately at a later date.
