Obituary of Claude Robert Green

Claude Robert (Bob) Greene, 87, a proud Marine Corps veteran, passed away unexpectedly at his home early Friday morning, November 29, 2019. 

Bob was born June 14, 1932, on a farm in Spencer County, Indiana to Claude and Odie Greene.  Growing up on the farm he learned the value of hard work and love of the soil that carried him through his work as an agricultural inspector for the Department of Agriculture.  He cared for all God’s creatures, especially dogs, cats and flocks of birds that ate regularly at his feeders.  Bob was famous for his ability to grow anything whether it was flowers, trees or a bountiful garden.  He was a sweet kind man who loved his family and appreciated his many dear friends and neighbors. 

He was predeceased by his parents Claude and Odie Greene, sisters Mary Ann Greene and Lucille Greene Payne, brother William Edward Greene, and son Robert Dewayne Greene. 

He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Martha B Greene; sister Margie Green Hall; daughter Roxanna Decker (Roger), step-children Ann Holmes (Robert Rogers) and David Holmes, Jr; grandchildren Jeremy Greene, Autumn Fox, Justin Hillard, two step-grandchildren Amanda McFalls and David Holmes III, and 1 great-grandchild Presley Rose Hillard, and many nieces and nephews. 

Visitation will be held at Wann Funeral Home on Monday, December 2, 2019, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m.  Graveside service with military honors will be held at Forest Hills Cemetery at 1 pm on Tuesday, December 3, 2019.  

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, 519 East 4^th Street Chattanooga, TN 37403.
