I worked with Allen for many years at Sequoyah. Allen was dedicated and professional, and always honest, kind and humble. A truly fine man and friend always. My thoughts and prayer to Allen's family in this sad time.

allen and I met at church 40 years ago. We sang in a trio, quartet, and youth choir together, traveling sometimes. We rolled yards together. had other innocent fun experiences. he drove me and 2 others to see elton john in knoxville. we ate a big meal and got sleepy on the way home, and had a little car crash. It's the only funny car crash I ever had. but it just was. allen was more than a friend to our family. he was like a member of it. my mom fixed him and louella up ! i loved him like a brother. I don't think he has ever not come to any event our family had. if any of us called him, he and louella would be there. he was a good man.... friendly, relatable, good-hearted, authentic. they don't make too many like allen. my love and condolences to the whole family.

It was my honor to have known Allen for the short amount of time we had. Allen was a light to those around him and he cared deeply for his family. One of my last moments with him was at his church where he showed much sincerity and devotion during the service. He left too soon and I will miss him.

Louella, I have been so heartbroken over the news of Allen's passing. I know he has been your rock for many many years. My heart breaks for you. I know we lost touch after I moved to Ooltewah but I loved Allen. He was such a wonderful person. Looking back at all the wonderful memories we shared over the years makes me smile. I can never listen to Beaulah Land without thinking of him as he was the world's greatest singer of that song. That man could sing and I know he is singing his heart out for our Lord and Savior who he loved with all his heart right now! Allen, my cousin, will always be special to me. He helped me with my brother, Morris, at the nursing home and we had some great times reminiscing about our kinfolks.
