Kerry's passing hit me hard as we had just talked recently; I was extremely sad to hear of it. Our paths crossed numerous times. He will be remembered as a Great Soldier, and a True American.

This hits hard and my fellow veterans will understand. Kerry was one of the finest human beings God ever placed upon this Earth. The consummate professional, yet kindhearted and compassionate, he was slow to criticize and quick to praise, and was respected by superiors and subordinates, alike. But Kerry wasn't just respected; Kerry was liked and loved as a friend. You knew he had your six whether at work or at the fest. In recent times, Kerry's Facebook posts were the highlight of many a morning..always with at least a passing reference to the many joys of consuming coffee and often with some wise (or otherwise) quip about worldly affairs. We often say someone will be missed; with the loss of SFC Kerry Koger it will actually be true. Rest well, Brother Soldier.

We have lots of memories that span over 39 years, from Pensacola to Germany to Hawaii and back to Pensacola again. Gone but not forgotten my friend. We salute you Kerry for a life well lived.

I didn’t know Kerry very well. We both served at FSA in the 1980’s, when he was a sergeant and I was just a young soldier. But I have never forgotten him. He always seemed so easy-going, and always looked sharp in uniform. I am proud to have served with him, and extend my deepest condolences to all his family and friends.

I love you so very much and there are no words to describe the loss I feel in my heart. I wish we had more time. You was the brother I never had but we were raised as brother and sister all the same and that meant the world to me. I will cherish every memory for the rest of my life.

Kerry went to quite a few Falcons' tailgates with Trace Mashburn back in the day. He was one of the many but one of the one's I really connected with. He was only my FB friend afterwards, but felt like I knew him forever. I didn't know he was as sick as he was and his passing really hurt. RIP....

Such a fine human being in so many ways.
Sandy Gribble and I met him in Chattanooga a few years back for dinner, and it was a lovely time.
I don't have enough words for the amount of respect I have for Kerry's integrity, honor, common sense and kindness toward people who needed a good word.
Blessings and prayers for Kerry and his family.
We, his Military family, will miss him more than most people would guess.

I'll never forget the first time Kerry and I worked together outside of Gab, in the A Co. Orderly Room. I had been in the office since about 0500 and had already made a pot of coffee. Kerry came in a bit later. While we were talking, he poured a cup, sat down and began going through the CQ log. He took a sip, just about spit the whole thing out and began warning me not to drink the coffee, that it was terrible. I asked what was wrong with it and he said it had been made with too many scoops, was stronger and more bitter than it should be. He was calling for the CQ when I told him (while laughing the whole time), that all I did was make my usual coffee. The look on his face when I produced a second pot and told him he could make brown water if that's what he wanted was priceless. Coffee cemented our friendship........god, what a good man and an even greater friend. He will be dearly missed.
