Obituary of Margaret Christine Wright
Please share a memory of Margaret to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Margaret Christine Ensign Wright, 45, of Lookout Mountain, Ga., passed away on Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2019, at Hospice of Chattanooga after a four-year battle against colon cancer.
Born Feb. 26, 1973, Christie was the daughter of James and Martha Ensign of Lookout Mountain, Tenn. and the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. James Ensign and of the late Mr. and Mrs. Harry Shamhart. She is survived by Lee Wright, her husband of 14 years, and by their beloved son Jackson Lee Wright and first cousins Will Ensign (Meredith) and Janet Ensign Neder (Adam).
Christie was a 1991 graduate of Girls Preparatory School and a 1995 graduate of Converse College in Spartanburg, S.C. She received her Masters in Education from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga and her Ed.S. from Tennessee Tech.
Christie was a middle school teacher in the Walker, Catoosa, and Whitfield county schools for 14 years.
Christie could be a study in contradictions with angelic dimples and devilish wit. Her life centered on family and on a wide circle of cherished friends, many of whom she had known since early childhood and others made at Camp Nakanawa (where she spent many summers and served as a camp counselor), at school and at work over the years. She was fiercely loyal to family, a steadfast friend and extraordinarily generous almost to a fault. Most of all she was a devoted mother. Her love for Jack was extraordinary and known to all. Visitation will be on Saturday, February 23rd from 3:30-4:30 at the Church of the Good Shepherd on Lookout Mountain with a short memorial service to follow in the church’s Memorial Garden. A celebration of life reception will be held that same day from 5:00-7:00 at the Lookout Mountain Fairyland Club.
Memorial donations/contributions may be made to Hospice of Chattanooga or a charity of your choice.
