Please accept sincere condolences to all of you during this time of grief. Death leaves a hurt and void in our lives it doesn't matter who we are or where we are. Sickness, suffering and death was never God's original purpose. However he has made provisions to undo all suffering and to remove death forever. This promise is written in the Bible at Revelation 21:3,4. And Isaiah 33:24 tells us that no one living on earth will say: “I am sick." A life of eternity is before all who are obedient to the requirements of our loving Creator.

Lynn was a prince of a man. He was student manager of UTC's basketball and baseball teams that I played on while I was a student there. A tireless worker, he was as important as any player. He had the respect of all teams that he worked with. He was truly a remarkable person, and he will be greatly missed in Chattanooga.

It was a privilege to have known Lynn. Sam has known Lynn since junior high. Pam tutored at UTC with him. Both of us were just thrilled to see him receive the Harold Wilkes Award at UTC's Hall of Fame Dinner. As expected, Lynn was humble, genuinely thankful to God, his family, friends and colleagues for touching his life. It is we who are thankful.

I never met Mr. Trent, but he was a patient at the orthodontic office where my mom works during the time that she was pregnant with me. After I was born, he made a beautiful, rose-colored, hand-blown glass ornament for my first Christmas. I'm 33 years old now, and that ornament has been on my parents' tree and now my own tree every single year since. It's something I will always treasure.

In my 31 years at Furman, I enjoyed the company of only a few who would rival that of Lynn Trent, who was always beyond sincere, gracious, and humble on my many visits to Chattanooga over the years. My heart is indeed saddened in learning of his passing. What a man, and what a great ambassador for UTC who will be deeply missed by many, including me. The world would be a much better place were it to take on the wonderful qualities that Lynn Trent lived. My condolences to his loving family and all the folks at UTC, including Jay, Jim, and Anne in sports information. Hunter.

Lynn was truly a great friend. UTC basketball will not be the same without seeing Lynn at the scorer's table. Thoughts and prayers are with his family.

Some teachers touch your life for long after they've taught you the subject matter. Mr. Trent was one of those. I know I am not alone of my classmates in having the highest respect, admiration, and affection for him. A great man, he will be sorely missed.

My thoughts and prayers go out to Lynn's family. I have known Lynn for decades through UTC. I set beside him for the last dozen or so years during the UTC football games as we did the statistics for the game. I considered him a friend. He will be missed. I feel lucky to have known him.
