I have met Don when I started to work at the City and he was always there to answer questions if you have one. He was always helpful to anyone that needs to be mentored. I was one that had received his mentoring and kindness. My sympathy and prayers goes to his wife Tressa.

I just learned of Donald's death this evening. Donald and I haven't seen one another for a significant number of years. However, Donald is one of several persons, whom I know, whose mutual friendship began in the 1st grade at South St. Elmo Elementary School, continued through Lookout Junior High School, and Chattanooga High School - CHS Class of '56. I don't recall his playing sports in high school. However, in junior high, he was a gifted basketball and baseball player. My recollection of Donald is that he generally reflected a calm, quiet, confident, and friendly demeanor. My sincere condolences to Donald's family. Requiescat in pace, Donald. Paul Cooper

I first met Don when we both lived at Shepherd Hills apartments in 1971 then went to work with him at City Hall in 1972. He was my mentor & taught me so much. He was smart and extremely kind hearted. So many memories of Don. Prayers for his wife Tressa.

It was my good fortune to work with Don, mostly by phone, for about thirty years. I have good memories of his capability, kindness and wonderful sense of humor. Pat McPeak

Thank you Uncle Donald for all the years you have been there for us. You were the one who gave me my love of sports especially our mutual love of Alabama football. You taught me my work ethic by watching you. You were the absolute best Uncle a girl could ever have. We will miss you and cherish our memories of you and we know we will see you again up there one day. Until then I will think of you and miss you dearly. Love you forever.

Uncle Donald, your kindness, generosity and sweet spirit will long be remembered. You were an example of all that is good in this world. I am just heartbroken over losing you. I will miss your hearty laugh and your writings of the Bain family exploits. To Tressa and Aunt Deloris my truest sympathies. To all of Uncle Donald's nieces ....he adored you as if you were his own daughters. You were such a huge part of his life. We will see you again soon Uncle Donald.... save us a seat on the porch swing.
