Michael Lawder Holliday passed peacefully away Thursday, December 17, 2015 in the family home at Boston Branch on Signal Mountain. His family is comforted that he is now healed and eternally reunited with his beloved mother and father, Dr. Pope and Mary Holliday.
Born in Chattanooga Mike attended Baylor School and Auburn University. His love for the outdoors lead Mike to Middle Tennessee on his farm. At the request of his father upon passing, Mike relocated to Chattanooga to take care of his mother. His dedicated care of Mom will always be remembered and honored by the family.
Growing up as one of six children, life was exciting around the Holliday House on Minnekahda Road in North Chattanooga including numerous pets, beehives, yard chores, family wrestling practices and hunting for Civil War relics to name a few.
Mike is the brother of Joe Holliday (Eslie) of Greensboro, NC, Tom Holliday (Amy) of Nashville, TN, Rob Holliday (Janet) of San Antonio, TX, Sugar Wheeler of Signal Mountain, and Kay Denes (Gabe) of Columbus, GA.
Nephews and nieces of "Uncle Mike" include Thomas Jr., Andrew, Aaron, Jonathan, Israel, Paul, Nathan, Mary, Elizabeth, Josh, Jake, Ryan, Sarah and Gabriel.
Mike attended Signal Mountain Presbyterian Church. His faith and devotion inspired family members especially during his courageous battle with cancer. Mike's loving, tender and quiet manner will remain a source of admiration along with his servant heart.
The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thanks to the Chattanooga medical community for excellent care over the last three years. In addition the family is most grateful and appreciative for Sandi Shadwick and Robin Gaylor for their loving support and friendship.
Buddy, Mike's gentle hearted lab mix, served as a loyal companion for many years.
A Memorial Service will be held Sunday December 20th at 2pm at the Signal Mountain Presbyterian Church with Rev. Margaret Ferguson officiating. Visitation will be from 1:00 PM until the time of the service on Sunday at the church.
Family will gather for a graveside service at Forest Hills Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made in his memory to: The Ronald McDonald House of Chattanooga, American Cancer Society and Signal Mountain Presbyterian Church or a favorite charity of your choice.
