Obituary of Wilmus Irene Satterwhite

Wilmus Irene (Granny) Satterwhite, 91 of Soddy Daisy passed away Tuesday, December 15, 2015 at her home after a long battle with Alzhiemer's. She was of the Holiness Faith. Irene retired from Standard Coosa Thatcher in 1986 after 25 years of service. She was the daughter of the late Mark and Roxie Duke Laney, and was also preceded in death by her husband, William Thomas Satterwhite; sisters, Eva Morrison, Pauline Freeman, Corine D'Shields, Lorine Patterson; brothers, Rubin, Fred, Edrick, And Cameron Laney; great grand daughter, Misty Bennett; and great, great grandson, Easton Childs. Granny touched the lives of many people with her gentle, loving ways. She was kind and caring. She was always willing to help and give to others. It was so sad to watch that sweet person disappear as Alzheimers took over. Survivors include her sons, James (Margaret) Satterwhite, Sr., Ricky (Brenda) Satterwhite, all of Soddy Daisy; grandchildren, Jim Satterwhite, Jr., Melony McGinnis, Starla Ryan, Steve Satterwhite, Dawn Morrow, Christy Bidwell, Sierra Satterwhite, Billy Satterwhite, and Michelle Satterwhite; 15 great grandchildren, 14 great, great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Services will be at 11 A. M. Friday in the chapel of Legacy Funeral Home with Brother Zach Wyatt officiating. Interment will follow in Hamilton County Memorial Park with her grandsons, Dakota McGinnis, Dylan and Logan Satterwhite, Jacob and Blake Morrow, Austin Bidwell, and Steve and James Satterwhite, Jr. serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 4 - 8 P. M. Thursday at Legacy Funeral Home.
