In our opinion Chuck may have been one of the finest professors at Hillsdale College. Of course, we might be somewhat biased as Chuck hired both of us back in 1980. We had several opportunities to sit in on Chuck's classes and he also sat in on some of ours. He really got the students involved in the subject at hand. We learned a lot from him and tried to do the same in our classes. Chuck was also a great writer. We very much enjoyed reading his columns in various newspapers including the Hillsdale Daily News and the Detroit News. We had dinner with Chuck and Katy on numerous occasions and we always had a wonderful time! We heard Chuck was ill a couple weeks ago. Amazingly when we called him on his cell phone he answered! We had a great conversation with him - one that neither of us will ever forget. Katy - we are back in Hillsdale at our place on the lake. Georgia retired from the University of Wisconsin and Bob retired from Alverno College. Stop by if you are ever up in the 'Dale.

Dr. VanEaton is and will remain one of the most influential educators and human beings I have known in my life. I attended Hillsdale College (Class of '83) majoring in Business Admin/Economics. Dr. VanEaton treated "townies" as respectfully as other students and worked hard to make certain that each of us knew how very special we are, and that his expectations were beyond any that I held for myself - in all aspects of life. His teaching/learning methods were challenging and empowering and he always had time for a lively discussion on most any topic. Dr. VanEaton made a lifelong imprint on my life - intellectually, emotionally and as a humanitarian. Thank you Dr. VanEaton! Bless you and peace to you - Shari Dobbins Brown

Chuck and wife Katy were special friends to me. It was always joyful to be with them. We shared many conversations and we did some daytrips and local sight seeing. Chuck could converse on many levels and he was nice enough to converse on my level. He was a an admirable Christian of great faith who lived that life the Bible teaches about and raised a Christian family. He truly put the Bible first. He was an excellent teacher. I will miss him as a friend and brother in Christ. His life and teachings will be carried through his descendants for generations and others he has influenced which are now in evidence. I was told once long ago that as long as we remember someone they never, really, go away. May the blessings of God be with his family. Troy Bowman
